Why Kim T. Mollberg CPA?
Why not? Kim has 38+ years experience serving a variety of clients with their financial statement preparation and tax needs.
Kim was born in Long Prairie in 1957 and grew up in Detroit Lakes. Kim is married to Jamie and they have 3 children, Carly, Alex and John. Kim came from a large family, with 3 brothers and 4 sisters. The football field in Detroit Lakes is named after his father Del.
Kim graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1975. He graduated from the Univerisity of Minnesota in 1979 with a BS in Business-Accounting Program degree. He sat for and passed all sections of the CPA exam in May 1980. He worked for 12 years in tax with national accounting firms, including Main Hurdman (now KPMG) and Price Waterhouse (now Price Waterhouse Coopers). He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Master in Business Taxation degree in 1983. He started his practice in Detroit Lakes in 1991. In 2007, Kim taught at financial accounting at North Dakota State University as an adjunct faculty member. In 2008, he accepted a position teaching accounting in the AACSB-accredited Paseka School of Business at Minnesota State University Moorhead, where he has taught undergraduate-level financial accounting, managerial accounting, Tax I, Tax II, and graduate-level courses in taxation. In 2011, he completed the requirements and became a CMA (Certified Management Accountant). In 2012, Kim completed the requirements and became a CGMA (Certified Global Management Accountant). In 2013, Kim received tenure at the University. where he now serves as an Associate Professor of Accounting. Kim has continued to practice as a CPA at times his duties do not require him to be at the University.
Kim is a member of AICPA, MNCPA, American Accounting Association, Institute of Management Accountants, Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce, Detroit Lakes Kiwanis Club, El Zagal Shrine Temple, Detroit Lakes Shrine Club Color Guard, Mount Tabor Masonic Lodge #106, and Detroit Lakes United Methodist Church.
